Digital Economy to an economy that is based orefers n digital computing technologies. The digital economy is also sometimes called the Internet Economy, the New Economy, or Web Economy. Increasingly, the "digital economy" is intertwined with the traditional economy making a clear delineation harder.
The term was coined by Don Tapscott, author of the 1995 best selling book "The Digital Economy: Promise and peril in the age of Networked Intelligence" and the anniversary edition released in 2014.
There are several key components that enable the digital economy. There's the technology infrastructure itself--the hardware, software and networks. Another key component is e-commerce, the digital transactions through which customers buy and option products and services from organizations.
Digital economy is the economic activity that results from billions of everyday online connections among people, businesses, devices, data, and processes. The backbone of digital economy is hyper connectivity which means growing interconnections of people, organizations, and machines that results from the internet, mobile technology and the internet of things (IoT).
